When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

...what the hell...HOW DID THIS NOT GET IN MY INBOX?
The coloring is amazing...absolutely amazing. -- Icon lineart by ~milei The dialogue is an adorable touch, though I must ask that you please spell "wondrous" correctly.
Since you asked for critique, I shall now...critique. In my opinion, the background is wayyy too chunky and frantic and colorful and undefined, and not only does it look kind of abstract without studying it for a while, it also pulls attention away from the mainly dull-colored characters, who should be the focus. (Even the teacup Seba's holding and the bright spot near Rhyme's hat catch my eye more that either of their faces.) I would suggest tonign down the background colors and the table, and brightening the two main characters. The rampant use of filters is not a positive point, either--such things can add great effect when used in moderation, but en masse, like in this picture, the wide, bold strokes of the back- and foreground make it difficult to see the delicate strokes on the characters themselves. On to the positive bits, the details in this picture are fantastic! The outfits are lovely, and the characters' anatomy is fairly accurate, as far as I can tell. (The only thing that bugs me here is that it doesn't really look like Rhyme's hand is physically around Seba's back--I'd suggest using your own hand for reference, curling it around something, or even just air, to get the shape and physics right.) So, TL;DR: The costumes and details in the characters are very pretty, but they don't pop enough to really catch the eye. Everything in the picture seems to be vying for the viewer's attention, and it's hard to tell what's going on because of that. ...that was really long. Sorry, I think that had more negative than positive. >>;;;;;;; -- *should be doing something else right now* |
